Yesterday I headed up to London for a day at Liberty's Sewing School. I had been given a class as a Christmas present from Mr Edamay.
The subject of the day was to make a clasp purse. This is something I have tried to make a couple of times before and it has never ended in success. In fact it has resulted in me getting extremely annoyed and throwing my glue encrusted creations in the bin! I was therefore slightly nervous about the day & the possibility of throwing a tantrum in public if my purse went wrong!
There were 7 of us in the class which was held in the beautiful wood panelled 'Heritage Suite' which is a complete haven of tranquility amongst the hustle & bustle of Regent Street outside. The class was run by the very lovely & very talented Lisa Lam of U-Handbag. She is the author of A Bag for all Reasons & The Bag Making Bible I instantly knew I was in good hands. Lisa was calm, had an infectious giggle & promised we would all go home with a beautiful purse.
We got to work following her clear step-by-step instructions for the aptly named 'easy peasy purse' and 'ta-da' a few hours & a cream tea later (yes a cream tea was included in the class too!) this was the result..... a beautiful purse with a beautiful lining & a clasp that actually opens and closes and isn't encrusted with glue & isn't destined for the bin. In fact it is destined to be used & loved forever!
I love my purse & am proud of it! Thanks Lisa for a great day & thanks Mr Edamay for a great gift!
